We all are running here and there to find, what is happiness, someone spending lot of money to find out happiness. We don’t necessarily need to do anything to find out whether we are happy or not. To find out whether we are happy or not, just look in the mirror and observe how often we smile and how peaceful we are. From that alone, we come to know whether we are truly happy and content. When we look within ourselves, we realize that happiness is our own nature.

To be unhappy, we need a reason. Without a reason, we cannot be unhappy.

Often, we let small things disturb our peace. Imagine you made a favourite dish or ordered something from outside. You ate it with great anticipation and then found it wasn’t as good. You may feel like your money was wasted or that the dish wasn’t worth it-and just that small incident makes your mind restless. And we are surprised that such a small thing has the power to disturb us. And we pay no attention to what truly constitutes happiness. We must consciously practice remaining happy and peaceful. It’s a skill, just like physical cleanliness is essential for good health, mental cleanliness is essential for a happy life. If every day, we spend a few minutes observing our own mind, the quality of our life will improve significantly. The state of our mind determines the direction of our life. Purifying the mind is extremely important.

Although happiness seems like an individual experience, it has a collective and communicative nature. If only one person in a family is happy and the rest are sad, that one person cannot stay truly happy. The joys and sorrows of those around us influence our own state of mind.

That’s why in our prayers; we also wish for the well-being of the entire community. It is 100% true that no one can either give us happiness or take away our sorrow. Every person experiences life according to their own actions. There are people who seem to have everything and remain unhappy, despite the world bending over backward to make them smile.

And often, we ourselves are responsible for our happiness. A simple method is to keep quiet for a little while when things don’t go your way, and instead of reacting, just accept: “Okay, I’m confused.”

This acceptance leads to a profound peace.
