Mathura Vrindavan
Mathura and Vrindavan are among the most famous religious and spiritual destinations in India. These sacred places are deeply connected with the birth and childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna. Millions of devotees and tourists visit here every year for दर्शन (darshan) and spiritual peace.
Lord Krishna was born in Mathura, which is considered His birthplace, while Vrindavan is famous for His childhood leelas (divine pastimes). Visiting these places gives a feeling of peace and devotion.
When we visited, we stayed in Vrindavan. On the very first evening, we went to visit Prem Mandir. The temple is extremely beautiful and brightly illuminated from every corner. During the evening, the temple looks even more mesmerizing. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha Rani and is built entirely with white marble. The temple is famous for its intricate carvings, colorful lights, and spiritual atmosphere.
The architecture of the temple is so stunning that devotees become spellbound at first sight. This temple was built by Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj. Visitors can enjoy the colorful light show, musical fountain show, beautiful tableaux of Radha-Krishna, and the huge clean campus. Evening is considered the best time to visit because the fountain show and lighting make the temple look magical.
After visiting the temple, we had dinner and returned to the hotel. The next morning, we first visited ISKCON Temple Vrindavan. Thousands of devotees from India and abroad come here for darshan. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Balaram Ji. The surroundings are very peaceful and clean. Here, you can see foreign devotees engaged in devotion and service. Continuous chanting of Hare Krishna and bhajans creates a divine atmosphere.
We reached early in the morning, which gave us enough time for darshan. After the darshan, we had prasadam there. Listening to the Hare Krishna kirtan was such a beautiful experience that we did not even realize how two hours passed.
After that, we went to Nidhivan, which is considered an extremely sacred place. It is believed that even today Lord Krishna performs Raas Leela here every night with the gopis. The trees here appear twisted and interconnected. After sunset, Nidhivan is completely closed, and it is believed that no one stays there at night because the trees are said to transform into gopis.
Devotees visiting Vrindavan definitely come to this place because the atmosphere here gives a feeling of peace and divinity.
In the evening, we went to Banke Bihari Temple. The temple is always crowded with devotees and is dedicated to the Banke Bihari form of Lord Krishna. It is located in the main market area of Vrindavan and can be easily reached by e-rickshaw, auto, or on foot. A Vrindavan trip is considered incomplete without the darshan of Banke Bihari Ji. The Holi celebration here is famous all over the world.
After the darshan, we walked to Radha Vallabh Temple, one of the oldest and most famous temples in Vrindavan. It is dedicated to the Radha Vallabh form of Lord Krishna.
The evening Yamuna Aarti in Vrindavan is considered a deeply spiritual and beautiful experience. Watching the aarti fills the heart with positivity and peace. One can easily travel from Vrindavan to Mathura by auto as well.
After reaching Mathura, we first visited Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi. It is believed to be the exact birthplace of Lord Krishna. Devotees from faraway places come here for darshan. According to belief, Lord Krishna was born in Kans’s prison. The temple complex still preserves the sacred site and garbhagriha (sanctum) associated with His birth. This place holds immense religious importance and is considered one of the major pilgrimage centers for Krishna devotees.
Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi is not just a temple but a center of faith and devotion for millions of devotees. Anyone visiting Mathura-Vrindavan should definitely visit this sacred place.
After that, we visited Dwarkadhish Temple, where Lord Krishna is worshipped as the King of Dwarka.
The next morning, we went to Govardhan Hill. It is believed that Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill on His little finger to protect the people of Braj from the anger of Indra Dev. Govardhan Hill is considered extremely sacred. Devotees come here to perform the Govardhan Parikrama, which is considered very auspicious.
Many devotees perform the parikrama barefoot, while some even do dandavat parikrama. Early morning and evening are considered the best times for parikrama. You can also complete the parikrama using autos or e-rickshaws.
After that, we visited Gokul. It is believed that Lord Krishna spent His childhood here. Nand Baba and Mother Yashoda raised Him in this place.
In Gokul, Nand Bhavan is believed to be the residence of Nand Baba and Yashoda Maiya. Raman Reti is famous for the childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna, and its sand is considered sacred.
Gokul was the final stop of our journey. Mathura and Vrindavan are truly mesmerizing places that capture the heart completely. One never feels like leaving these divine lands, as they provide an unforgettable sense of peace and spirituality.
